Default Money On Guild Wars

hey,

now this post is about money & farming in the game.. this may just be me sounding like a grumpy old man not being able to face facts within the game and if that is your opinion on what i'm about to write then i don't mind..but this is my view on farming.

for starters, i'm going to mention FoW..it is supposed to be a rare armour that only the best of the best can get.. or is it? . FoW is actually suprisingly easy to get hold of with many sites selling ectos, guild wars money and plenty more. i would post a few links of this to prove the ammount of sites but it is not my job to advertise them, they wreck the gw system.so FoW can be got hold of suprisingly easily, so can the rest of these 15k armours. they need to make this armour harder to get hold of in my opinion to make it a true achievement..for example doubling the ammount of ectos you need to get ie.i would also like to add with hard mode in..why is this happening?why aren't ecto prices going up if anything..they still need to make this harder to get

Next, i go onto farming in general, materials are becoming suprisingly easy to get hold of as well..Like Ectos dropping from 15k to 5k in a few weeks. this again ,is wrecking the ballence on guild wars. it is this sort of excessive farming that is making 15k armours somewhat a basic armour on guild wars. These should be hard to get and a challenge..not just simply buying on a site or farming ectos all day. so (again i don't mean to sound like a miserable old fool) 15ks armours should be raised to add the challenge and reward of getting this armour.

Now, I come to money in general,Quote:
i once had 50k when i was poor, but now i on average will get something of like 200k in a few days
. this was a quote on guildguru..now why is there money like this lying about..and 50k not being much money? that's plenty for a normal person, or in this case a person like me,so probabely not normal for a person with some of the views i have . regarding this , i'm willing to bet alot of money is made out of "running" and "taxis".. now this is wrong.. why should people get ran to droks just so they miss half the story out..same goes for the consulate docks "taxis".. you should get suitable armour dependant on what stage your upto..not just by missing out half of the story.

in concluesion , i'm assuming this is going to be met with alot of unpopularity but guild wars is getting abit stupid with money. this whole "making money" thing is wrecking big sections of guild wars..and it isn't good

well sorta yes and sorta no.
FoW armor i agree should be hard to get but double ectos and shards? when realistically price for gold has gone from 50-60 dollars for 1000k to 160+ dollars for the same amount overnight with the hard mode and loot scaling update. so people buying money cant really be taken into serious account anymore. and even more so with mats+armor costs and whatnot FoW armor is generally 1.2 mil overall give or take a few plat since ecto prices fluctuate. And as a last note on FoW armor and ectos and what have you, ectos and shards are hard enough to get as is lol....i can solo w/rt smite runs in UW 30 minute runs give or take, and average 1 or 2 ectos per run supposing i clear the smites. but i digress i think FoW is fine as is...and for the record i dont own not 1 set of FoW namely cause a lotta it is waay overprices for how it looks.

Now for 15k armor. it is very very very VEEERRRRY simple to come across 60k in about...we'll say a week for the casual gamer who may spend their time vanquishing or doing whatever a couple hours every day. The only thing increasing 15k armor requirements or price will do is alienate people from them even more so than they have and when in reality...15k armor isnt really a sort of status of leetness as it once was...when you give people enough time soon enough everyone will have it regardless of requirements. so 15k armors should prolly stay how they are.

now for the last part and please keep in mind this means no dis-respect nor flaming in any way...just putting in my $.02. but running was obviously something not hard to find in proph. so they nerfed it to hell and back in factions and all that did was have people run others through missions. for NF they did something of a hybrid of mixing both of those where you can get runs to anywhere in the certain country your in (istan, kourna, vabbi, desolation, etc) but you couldnt move any further till you did the missions. if people wanna skip storyline to get somewhere with max armor then more power to em....its their own problem to miss out on the game theyve probably seen 15000 times like myself. besides in NF even if they get a ferry to consolate docks they still hafta do all other missions to even get off of istan...so all their gaining is maxed out armor early. but again just my $.02 ^_^

The amount of in-game gold being generated has dropped off dramaticallywith the advent of the loot-scaling system. The result of this is the value of gold has gone up. This is why ecto and the other more expensive items (black dye, etc.) is coming down.

It is also why the price that the gold sellers are charging has gone way up. Before loot scaling, there'd be people advertizing in-game selling 1,000K for $50 - $60. Today, they're charging a lot more. Saw a person advertizing 100K for $15, which is $150 for 1,000K. (reported!!!!)

Well, I wouldn't mind seeing an armor set (not fow, something new) that would be considered very prestige to own. But have it something that the noobs can't just buy off e-bay.

For example. 15k per piece to craft like fow, but instead of ectos and shards each piece requires the same amount of "widgets" and "thingabobs". Widgets and thingabobs can only be acquired as drops or quest rewards and very rare drops at that and they cannot be traded to another player.

LOL, now that would be some rare armor!

better yet how bout something that requires the rare untradable items and no gold? would suck to get a super rare untradable crafting item and then not be able to use it because you don't have enough gold

Just a thought about "Elite" armor. 5 "Elite" quests in HM (example: the Titans, for the Prophesies), the rewards per quest, 1 piece of armor you can select by attributes, no materials or gold needed. Of course, you would need an area in all 3 chapters. That is just an example.

Just my $0.02.

And for all of us that did those quests well over a year ago, before factions? No one it seems bothers with them now.
I liked the challenge but I guess I am in the minority.

Hmmm...quick thought, Titan Quests in hard mode....now that would be fun.

So because some people buy the stuff needed for FoW armor double the amount??????
But then they buy twice as much and we get screwed and have to work longer to get it the honest way

fow armor hasnt been rare for like a year now.

doubling materials needed wont stop it being a common armour set it will only make it harder for people to obtain now

/signed. That'd be awesome.

DoA armor, anyone? Each piece needs an Armbrace! I'd actually go to DoA if I could get some bad-ass armor like that.

Something similar was brought up in This thread. You may find that more people agree with this than just you, Carrot Guy.

I agree. Instead of crafting those armor pieces using rare crafting materials that can be bought off from farmers, why not make it like a reward for a super-elite quest or series of hard quests?

But it's not like the developers would still bother about this armor. Maybe making a new set of "prestige armors" would be easier. A set that would take away Obsidian's elite status.

I'm confused how the OP says that FoW armor can be bought, then suggests doubling the price as a means to make it more exclusive. If you eBay 1 million gold, you're going to eBay 2 million if you need to.

Some of this kinda interests me, in a way. Although, Increasing the required materials is ridiculous! What of the people who are actually trying to get this as a real status quo, working to get it them selfs? My opinion is that perhaps armor should be given free, but you must achieve something first to get it. For example, gain so and so title, and you are awarded with the choice of an armor. Just my opinions though.

Trust me, not fun

I've been having a go at them recently. I do think that TLDD is actually impossible to complete seeing almost one spell of an Armageddon Lord kills the King.

The reason gold is so easily available, and why the economy is stale, is majorly due to bot farming.

Arenanet hasn't put nearly as much work into stopping bots as virtually any other popular MMO. Why? I'm not too sure. I think it has something to do with their unique income system (chapter based purchases), or perhaps a low quantity of staff.

The second problem is there's not enough goldsinks IMO.
Gold should be able to be invested into PvP more, as well as there should be just generally more features for guild halls, and more advanced community options which can sink gold.
The biggest sink of gold in the game is armor. The problem is that the majority of players only sink a limited number of sets, everything else they get just keeps piling up and up.

Goggle NCSoft + Bot and you will understand why nothing is done about the bot's, they are a major income source for NCSoft.

That doesn't sound like a Bad Idea maybe mission based instead but in Normal Mode at the end you get your reward.

Well it would be nice to see some rewards that don't use gold at all(other than titles).

But when i get my 15k's i get them to look nice, but i do enjoy all the complements i get along the way
